Adding fiber to your diet.
Eating about 25 to 35 grams of fiber a day can help keep stools soft and improve fissure healing. Fiber-rich foods include fruits, vegetables, nuts and whole grains. You also can take a fiber supplement. Adding fiber may cause gas and bloating, so increase your intake gradually.

Holding in your poop is the worst thing you can do for your anal fissure. Instead, you must add fiber and fluids to your diet to soften your stool.
Once a fissure develops, the internal anal sphincter typically goes into spasm, causing further separation of the tear, constricting blood flow to the area, impairing healing, and causing pain.
Walking. Walking is a low-impact exercise that benefits fissure healing by improving overall circulation and promoting regular bowel movements. Regular walking helps reduce inflammation and discomfort associated with anal fissures.
Apply a topical ointment or cream to your fissure. Petroleum jelly can promote healing by sealing in moisture and acting as an antibiotic. Medicated creams can treat inflammation and pain. Take a sitz bath two or three times a day for at least 10-15 minutes.
Do not use over-the-counter ointments or creams without talking to your doctor. Some of these preparations may not help. Use baby wipes or medicated pads, such as Preparation H or Tucks, instead of toilet paper to clean after a bowel movement. These products do not irritate the anus.
