At 12 DPO, if you're pregnant, you can expect rising progesterone and hCG levels. This can lead to symptoms like fatigue, cramping, mood swings, breast tenderness, frequent urination, bloating, constipation, backache, and vaginal discharge changes.
An at-home urine test will detect hCG closer to 12-15 DPO. With that in mind, 12 DPO should be enough time to provide an accurate test result from a blood test with a doctor, but it may still be a bit early for an at-home test.
What's happening in my body at 12 DPO? If fertilization and successful implantation have occurred, the fertilized egg is continuing to embed into the uterine lining at 12 DPO. As the egg embeds, hCG levels start to rise, triggering the corpus luteum to produce more progesterone.
In most women, symptoms may begin to appear as early as one to two weeks after conception. First symptoms of pregnancy timeline: Pregnancy officially begins two weeks after your last menstrual period. Implantation may occur at 1 to 2 weeks and cause light spotting, discharge, and cramping.
Some women always experience fatigue at 12 DPO due to PMS — but for others, it may be unusual to find themselves more tired than usual around this time of the month. If this is the case for you, then feeling unusually fatigued at 12 DPO may be a sign of early pregnancy.
hCG and progesterone both increase after implantation. These rising pregnancy hormones can cause you to feel a variety of symptoms at 13 DPO. Some include cramping, breast tenderness, constipation, and mood swings.
You may feel brief lower abdomen pain. This is known as Mittelschmerz, a slight, one-sided ache or twinge in the pelvis caused by the release of the egg during ovulation. At two weeks pregnant, your belly won't show any signs of a bump yet, although you may feel a little more gassy or bloated than usual.
12-14 DPO symptoms. According to the National Institutes of Health, as hCG hormone levels grow, women may experience these early pregnancy symptoms: Unusual fatigue (feeling sleepy), dizziness, or lightheadedness (feeling wobbly, often when you get up after lying down).
Your placenta begins producing and releasing hCG into your blood and urine. HCG can be found in a person's blood around 11 days after conception. It takes slightly longer for hCG to register on urine tests. HCG increases quickly (almost doubling every three days) for the first eight to 10 weeks of pregnancy.
For most women, morning sickness begins around the fourth week of pregnancy and resolves by weeks 12 to 14. However, 1 in 5 women endures morning sickness into their second trimester, and an unfortunate few experience nausea and vomiting for the entire duration of their pregnancy.
